So I'm just going to blather on a bit about this and that and hope that someone somewhere finds it interesting!
First I want to tell you that after hearing so many YouTubers rave about IT Cosmetics CC+ Color Correcting Full Coverage Cream with SPF 50 (whew! that was a mouthful!), I finally caved and ordered a tube when IT was a having a Friends & Family discount. I'd swatched it at Ulta a couple times when I was there and it did seem pretty nice. Well, everyone who raved about it was right!
Mine is not the illuminating one, but let me tell you, it does seem to add the perfect amount of luminescence. Not too much, but it does add an almost imperceptible amount of glow. And the coverage is decent--I'd call it medium coverage. I put it on after eyeshadow (so I can get rid of fallout before applying it) and let it sink in while I finish my eyes and brows. I lightly dust on some bronzer, blush and highlighter then take my Laura Geller Balance n Brighten and lightly dust that over the whole thing. It looks so natural, I'm so pleased with it. I think it makes the 'BnB' look even better. I haven't even felt the need for concealer. If I find this in a supersize somewhere, like QVC, I'm in!
I also wanted to talk about the BH Cosmetics Carli Bybel palette. Honestly, I'm not a big fan of BH Cosmetics. And truthfully, I don't follow Carli Bybel either. I only ever purchased from BH once. Just didn't feel the products were very good. However! The Carli Bybel palette is a different kettle of fish.
There are 10 shadows and 4 highlighters; all neutrals, but sooo pretty! The product is soft and silky and while mostly shimmer, not overly glittery. More metallic than actual glitter. I found them quite blend-able, but you definitely need an eyeshadow primer underneath the shadows.
Shadows: There's a mauvey tan (matte), a dusty mauve (matte), a soft burgundy (satin matte), two shades of gold (shimmer), a copper (shimmer), a bronze (shimmer), a light pink (shimmer), a cream (matte) and a deeper cool brown (satin matte).
The highlighters are, of course, all shimmer: pale petal pink, pale champagne, golden, and a bronze. I can't see being able to wear the bronze as a highlighter unless you have a deeper skin-tone, but it also makes a nice shadow color. In fact, you can use the other colors as eyeshadow too, and they are great inner-corner highlighters. It's fun to tap your brush into the three lighter shades and make your own custom highlighter shade.
To me, this item is marketed hard to teen consumers who are Carli Bybel fans but really, makeup lovers of all ages would enjoy it. After all, I'm 62 but I just love the colors and textures of this palette and find them easy to wear. And I'm a die-hard Lorac Pro fan! Plus it was only $12.50! The packaging is on the cheaper cardboard side, to be expected, but who cares! I haven't seen very much on YouTube about this palette, so to me, it's rather an unsung hero product.
Sadly, I'm not an elite Sephora consumer as I don't spend zillions of dollars there, as I rarely order and the nearest one to me is 100 miles away in Las Vegas. So I only get the annual $15 coupon from them. But naturally, I had to spend it! I ended up ordering the Sephora Ombre' Obsession Face Palette and the Becca Opal Glow On the Go Shimmering Skin Perfectors. Unfortunately, it looks like they are now out of stock on both these right now and it's hard to say when they might be back in stock, if ever. But I did want to say that if you happened to get this face palette too, I hope you are loving it as much as I am. The colors are wonderful! I think Sephora should bring this back!
I see they still have stock on the Ombre Obsession Eyeshadow palette and it's on sale! But I won't be taking the plunge as the upper section doesn't appeal to me that much and I'd hate to waste money just for half a palette!
I was glad they offered the Opal Glow on the Go...it's a sample pack of the liquid and the pressed versions of Opal Shimmering Skin Perfector. And it was only $20, which was enough to boost me up to free shipping on the order. While they're very beautiful, I guess I just don't quite get the hype over this product and shade.
I find The Balm's Mary Lou-Manizer and Cindy Lou-Manizer just as beautiful and less expensive, especially if you get them off Hautelook, like I did. (Half price!) Even better, Physician's Formula Shimmer Strips All in 1 Custom Nude Palette for Face and Eyes (whew! another mouthful of a name!) is every bit as gorgeous, soft and creamy in texture and if you can find a coupon--even less expensive yet! Plus you can customize your color depending which little color squares you dip your brush or finger into. Find at Walmart, Target or any drugstore that carries the brand.
So while there's nothing much very new here, I did enjoy rhapsodizing about some products I've been loving! Hope you enjoyed, too.
Everyone please send positive thoughts my way that I have thunderbolts of inspirations to write about soon. In the meantime,
Merry Christmas
and
Happy New Year!
And may you be very, very blessed.
Till next time,
"Christmas is the spirit of giving, without a thought of getting. It is happiness because we see joy in people. It is forgetting self and finding time for others. It is discarding the meaningless and stressing the true values." ~Thomas S. Monson
